Team USA Pankration, consisting of delegates from the USAFPA Federation, took on Pankration fighters from all over the globe to win the Team Silver Cup at the FILA Pankration Worlds. The event held in London, Canada happened on June 12-15 and included Amateur MMA along with Gi and No-Gi Grappling. Team USA provided a small contingent represented by Richard Tado, Sarah Jacobson, Jeremy Bibelhauser, and Mark Mendez. Lead by the USA Pankration Team Leader Laura Hill, and Team USA Coach Ivan Dale, the United States was lead by the efforts of Bibelhauser who started a run in the 77kg division. Staying undefeated till the final match of the day Bibelhauser fell short of Gold to win a Bronze by rules classification of the Nordic bracketing system. The FILA Worlds also featured Amateur MMA during the event and two USAFPA delegates, Matt Betzold, and Nick Marr, competed for MMA Gold. The FILA Worlds finished out the week of competition with Gi and No-Gi competition. USA Grappling was coached by Sheldon Marr and Nick Marr of Edge MMA and Fitness of Denver, CO. Team USA took the Bronze Cup in No-Gi Grappling with a team of twelve athletes. |
